Hi Every1 !
Perhaps my question is a dumb question... however:
let's imagine to have 2 web servers published behind a ISA machine.
I create my web publishing rule to publish the server #1 , which is available for external clients.
There's _the day_ that the server crash.
What i would love to have is a second publishing rule for server #2, that would work only when the first publishing rule can't communicate with the server #1 .
Is that possible ?
Has anybody thought about that problem... ?
Thank You !

Hi Danny,
This is what Windows 2000/3 Network Load Balancing (NLB) is all about. All flavours of Windows 2003 come with it. You then have two identical ISA/Web servers working and sharing the load at the same time (if one fails the other takes on all the load).
I always configure ISA/Web servers with Windows NLB even when there is only one server: It is then a simple matter to upgrade to a more fault tolerant pair at a later date.
ISA2004 and Windows 2003 should be able to work together to provide load-balancing across the ISA servers and the Web servers they publish, something not altogether possible with ISA2000. (I say 'should' because Microsoft are still being a bit cagey about the Windows 2003 features that will make this possible). [ April 20, 2004, 12:38 PM: Message edited by: Paul Baldwin ]

Hi Danny
There is lots on this site. Type 'NLB' in the site search box at the top of this page.
Most of it relates to ISA2000, but it will get you started while waiting for the ISA2004 stuff!
