Hello,

I have seen some people referring to install 3rd party Firewall softwares such as Syget Firewall or Zone Alarm over the ISA Server.....I don't know wether it is recommended or not by Microsoft, What I think is If  ISA itself includes Firewall capabilities then installing another Firewall software over it may cause usuall problems.
I need an Experts view on this.

Given that the ISA Firewall is probably one of the most secure firewalls on the market today, why would you need toys like Sygate or ZoneAlarm? I think someone is testing your credulity.

Anyone who believes that layering firewall software on a single machine is a good thing clearly hasn't thought this mess through.

..and hardware is naturally more secure than software, too...

"But more is always better."

Hi Tarek,

Perhaps, but I assure you that it's not recommended and not supported.

Hi Tom,

Totally agree.

Personally , I prefer using add-on that is designed to work specially with ISA Server than using any stand alone app or apps that might conflict with ISA work.

Tarek.

Here's the official ISA team response:

Thou Shalt Not Combine Any Other Firewall  On The Same Machine As ISA Server Lest Thee Render Thine Once-Proud Firewall To Poopy-Ka-Ka And Find Thyself Rudely Rebuffed by PSS Engineers Amiudst Great Peals of Raucus Laghter From Those Same PSS Engineers.

IOW, be a stupid as you like, just don't come crying to PSS when you bork your ISA in the process.

HAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Putting another firewall on the ISA Firewall is almost as bad as running the ISA Firewall in Hork Mode!

BAAA!

Thanks!
Tom
