Hi,

I have encountered the error message

"Failed to run ADAM setup Error : 0x80074e46"

Here are the excerpt that i have obtained from ISA installation log :

I have tried to manually install ADAM from Win 2003 R2 Disc 2 setup as well as downloading manually the ADAM SP1 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9688f8b9-1034-4ef6-a3e5-2a2a57b5c8e4

After i manually installed ADAM SP1, the ISA installation still returned the error message (0x80074e46)

Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

Hi,

If you�re using ADAM , before you install Win 2003 SP2 you must to install ADAM SP1 first.

Hi Paulo,

Thanks for your reply. I have even re-formatted the PC and install only Windows 2003 SP1.

After that i have applied/installed ADAM SP1 and installed ISA 2006 in replica mode.

Already restarted before performing installation, and still give me the same error message.

Hi Hadi,
It's a known issue when installing ISA2006 on Win 2003 R2.

Follow this order of installation:
1. Install Windows 2003 R2
2. Install ISA2006
3. Install Windows 2003 SP2
4. Install Hotfixes.

If you try to install ISA after installing SP2, you will get the error message.

Thanks for your reply,

I have tried to reformatted the PC to Windows 2003 Enterprise R2 and then installing the disc 2.

After that, i have installed ADAM SP1 and installed ISA 2006 directly. The same issue still persists.

I have followed the instructions in this KB article carefully and the problem still persists.

Please be reminded that i haven't applied SP2 yet.

Hi Hadi,
Nowhere I said to install ADAM SP1 prior to installing ISA2006. Windows 2003 R2 has everything needed already.
Please try it again following the order I wrote.

G'Day All,

I did remove Win2003 SP2, and I still had the error when installing ADAM (through the ISA installation).

To make it work, I had to enable all communication between the first ISA servers (installed after Windows 2003 SP2) and the new server. A rule allowing all outbound traffic between server1 and server2 did the trick. Then it worked.

for me my OS was installed with windows 2003 R2 SP2 cd so SP2 was already on there. i recieved the ADAM error as well. to resolve i did the following:
1. copy isa 2006 install files to local drive on server
2. put the win2003 R2 SP2 Disk 2 in the cdrom

originally i got the error. after burning a new copy of the win2003 cdrom it worked fine. wierd part is that i had the win2003 disk 2 on the local drive of the server as well but isa2006 wants it in cdrom.
