Hi,

I read the great article about caching:  http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/ISA-2006-Web-Caching.html

I'm never sure how much performance hit the cache itself generates. I assume that if a client requests a site that has new content that the cache look-up increases the time for the client. How much is that? I assume that the clients use different web sites and I'm thinking about about reducing the disk cache to 0 as the web browsers also have a small cache. Am I missing something?

If you reduce the disk cache to 0, caching will be disabled.

Caching really only makes a difference if you have a very large client based (at least a couple of hundred) users behind the firewall, or if you need offline access to the content.

Try enabling caching for a couple of weeks and then disable it for a couple of weeks. Then query your users if they've noticed any changes the second two weeks.

Tom
