We have a Win2003 Terminal Server setup behind an ISA 2004 Firewall. The server is published for TSAC access via a web publishing and a server publishing rule.

On the Terminal Server we are running several programs that require telnet, ftp, ssh, and such. For these programs to work, the server needs Firewall client or be a SecureNAT client with protocol/application definitions specifically setup.

My question is, can we avoid the protocol setup and just install Firewall Client, and not break the publishing of the server?

In Tom's book "ISA Server 2004" there is a refence that this can be done (pg. 382 "Enables publishing servers that require complex networking protocol"). I just want to be sure... Thanks in Advance!

Hi Sov,

None of the protocols you've listed requires the Firewall client.
