Greetings,

I have a snort-inline box on my client network that provides an extra layer of security/visibility, especially in identification of systems that have been compromised by malware, etc.  I really want to deploy the FW client for its many benefits as well, but it appears that the client encrypts the traffic to the ISA server - not neccessarily a bad thing, but not appropriate for my environment.  So, is there any way to run the 2004 FW Client in an unencrypted mode, or would I have to try to find the 2000 FW client somewhere?  If it's the latter, would someone know where I could find it?

Regards,

Stephen

You can configure the ISA Firewall to not require encryption for downlevel Firewall clients.

Tom,

Thanks for the reply.  I've enabled that setting on the server, but it appears that the client itself makes the decision as to whether or not it implements encryption.  Does anyone know at what version Microsoft implemented encryption in the client?

Regards,

Nathan

Hi Nathan,

OK, I was afraid of that.

Encryption was introduced with the 2004 ISA Firewall's Firewall client app.

No encryption support for ISA 2000 Firewall client.

HTH,
Tom
