I have a 2006 FE BE configuration and trying to get the BE ISA access the Internet for MS updates and it does not seem to work

FE Server can access Internet and get updates

DSL Modem
DSL Router

FE Server - NIC1 (Private Static IP from DSL Router)
DG (DSL Router IP), DNS (ISP)

FE Server - NIC2 (Network 1)
no DG, no DNS

BE Server - NIC1 (Network 1)
DG NIC2 (FE server), DNS (ISP)
BE Server - NIC2 (Network 2)
no DG, no DNS

Also have published a FTP server in the DMZ on Network 1 and cannot hit my FTP site from the Internet

Please suggest

Configure the front-end ISA Firewall to not resolve names, the internal one can do that.

Remove the external DNS server settings on the internal ISA Firewall and configure it to use an internal DNS server that can resolve Internet host names.

HTH,
Tom
