I did a fresh insall of ISA 2006 on a Windows 2003 Server. During install, I was connected via a remote desktop session to that server. Install was running, while it was running I got disconected via remote desktop and now I can't connect to that server via any IP method. I tried ping, I tried remote desktop, I tried VNC... It''s like IP is locked out. I had a user go to the console of that server and log in, they can log in fine, ping fine, see the network fine..etc. I just can't connect to it remotely, this server is physically in a differnet state so I can't just walk to it. During the install, the installation mentioned something like after install you will be able to manage this server with 192.168.1.150 or 192.168.87.150(my subnet) but I overlooked that thinking it was just a bogus message. Any suggestions as to why I can't connect would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

I normal default install of ISA server,.."out of the box",...denies everything, everywhere, in any direction, except for allowances via the System Policies,...until you tell it to do something different than that. See this thread, particularly the last message by Elmajdal: http://forums.isaserver.org/Installing_ISA_From_Remote_Desktop/m_2002051685/tm.htm See this article (by Elmajdal): http://www.elmajdal.net/isaserver/Installing_ISA_Server_2006_Remotely.aspx

I should have continued... The IP of the machine you were working from gets added to the System policies to allow it to connect with Remote Desktop. So.. The machine you are sitting at must have the same IP# it did earlier or it will not match the System Policy. This can be a problem if you are VPN'ing in because you might get a different IP# each time. You also, AFAIK, have to connect to the Internal IP# of the ISA, not the External.

Hi, also check this article : Administrating ISA Server 2006 Remotely Using MMC and Remote let the guy at the other end read it and check , specially quote:
On ISA itself, go to the Terminal Services Configuration and make sure that the RDP-TCP connection is only bound to the ISA Internal interface (Properties -> Network Adapter). To do this, click on Start > Administrative Tools > Terminal Services Configuration, from the left panel click the Connection node > then on the right page, right click the RDP-TCP then click on properties > click on the Network Adapters Tab and then from the drop down list , choose the Internal NIC
