Is this possible?

2 ISA servers publishing the same internal mail server, I tried to add a 2nd mx record to use the other isa and can't get connected. Does ISA2K4 lock connection to mail server when published?

Jim..

Hi Jim,

Yes, but you'll need to configure one of the SMTP server publishing rules to replace the client IP address with the ISA firewall's address, since the SMTP server depends on its single default gateway.

HTH,
Tom

Hi Jim,

On one of the ISA firewalls, you need to configure the SMTP Server Publishing Rule to replace the source IP address with the IP address of the ISA firewall. This allows you to get around the default gateway issue.

HTH,
Tom

Okay, I did that and was able to make that work, but, now what happens is since the connection om mail server shows the isa internal ip my deny ip address list on mail server doesn't work for the 2nd connection, and I don't want that, damm spammers

Hi Jim,

It'll break RBLs, but RBL blocking is a losing game anyhow. Are you using something a bit more sophisticated?

Thanks!
Tom
