Hello everyone,

I have a problem with 2 DHCP servers with an ISA 2006 inbetween.
One is SBS2008 (beeing a dc naturally) having an dhcp running authorized and serving the network he's located in.
The ISA Server is with one Interface in this network aswell.

There is another DHCP Server based on Win2003(Workgroup having 3 nics) serving 2 Subnets and is connected directly to the ISA aswell.

/ Subnet1: 192.168.3.x
SBS2008 ---192.168.1.x--- ISA ---192.168.2.x--- W2003
\ Subnet2: 192.168.4.x

All with Mask 255.255.255.0

Now the W2003 DHCP Server keeps noticing the DHCP Server from SBSW2008 and shuts itself down.. can anyone tell me what exactly I have to block to prevent the DHCP servers from noticing each other?

hey all,

I solved my problem. Apparently the DHCP server on the win2003 maschine was listening on the interface which was going to the firewall directly.
This might have been the cause.
I have also adjusted the firewall rules so that it's not allowed to send stuff using specific protocols to the entire other subnet but only to servers specified in the rule.

This measures stopped the DHCP servers from noticing each other.
