Hopefully this hasn't been covered elsewhere and I'm just too blind to find it...

I'm attempting to setup a home config with an internal network and DMZ. The internal network is a Win2K3 Active Directory, ergo it has a DNS/DHCP server. The DMZ on the other hand doesn't have a DNS server, though I'm willing to set one up if need be.

Would I need a DNS server for the DMZ?

If so, what sort of rules would I set so that both the internal and DMZ DNS servers would properly forward requests?

If not, the same question applies.

Hi Magus,

You don't need a DNS server on the DMZ.

What type of DMZ are you creating? Public or private address?

What types of machines are being placed in the DMZ?

I take it then that I simply allow all DNS traffic (both from Internal and Perimeter) to External?

This'll be private addresses, Win2003 serving HTTP, FTP, and IRC.
