We are running ISA 2004 and generally there are no problems accessing any sites on the Internet. I have just installed a "Live Chat" program on a client computer inside the network which must call a Web Service in order to work.

I can type the web service address in a browser session and it connects instantly. However within the Windows client application for the Live Chat program, when it tries to connect I get "The request failed with HTTP status 403: Forbidden (The ISA Server denies the specified Uniform Resource Locater (URL)."

The web service is: http://www.domain.com/DesktopModules/OnyakTech.SigmaLive.PopUp/SigmaLive.asmx

I have added this address as a Destination Set and created a Site and Content Rule to allow all access to the destination set. I have also added the ".asmx" extension to the allowed extensions list yet nothing works.

Why ISA blocks it from working within a Windows application yet doesn't when entered directly into a browser I don't understand. I hope someone out there will.

Have you looked at ports?? Perhaps it is trying to use a port other than what you have set up in ISA.

What is the client type ?

have you installed the Firewall Client ?
