Hi!, I have ISA 2000. For the incoming web listener, I have configured a self-signed SSL certificate generated by the webserver (imported on the firewall to authenticate with the webserver). I also have another self-signed certificate generated by the EMail server software, configured for secure mail connection.
When the user types the URL
https://garuda.vati-onchol.com
I get the following error:
500 Internal Server Error - The certificate chain was issued by an untrusted authority. (-2146893019) Internet Security and Acceleration Server
I had same SSL certificates before, and there was no error. However, previously I used the 'Server publishing rules' to publish the email server, and now I am using 'Web publishing rules' to publish the server (old one is deleted). Since then I am getting the above error.
Any idea? [ April 12, 2004, 05:37 PM: Message edited by: shu ]

Hello,
I am assuming that you fixed this problem several months ago, but I am replying for everyone else who is having the same problem.
I have had the same problem in the past and it took me a while to figure out why it was. What I didn't realise was that if you have encryption between the isaserver and the client and also the isaserver and the internal server you are trying to access, is that you require two certificates but they must be from the same certificate authority. I had two certifcates but one from external source and another from internal CA.
Hope this clears it up for a few people getting this error.
Thanks Richard

Hi Richard, Not true. You can use the same certificate for both. I almost always use the same certificate on the Web site and on the ISA firewall's Web listener. HTH, Tom
