I have simple network with ISA 2006 as Edge Firewall configured (defoult)
Now when i try to browse from any client the foolowing error is showing.

502 Proxy Error. The ISA Server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). (12202)

Still i did not check any other traffics only i am trying first web browsing.
Please help

Hi Deemas,

Did you create a rule to allow outbound traffic? What Firewall rules have you created?

Thank you very much for your reply,

I do have created rules, like Forward DNS to ISP and Allow Internet Access (Http, Https, POP3, SMTP), more over DC time sync with external NTP server.

Is there anything more i have to create? to change any rule.

as default i can access microsft site in ISA server. so the brwosing is working in ISA Server.

Check the ISA Firewall's log files to see which rule is denying the requests.

I check the log file

Denied connectionsa are mainly as follow.

DNS Protocol (53) from our Local DNA Server IP to ISP DNS Server IP

Microsft SQL UDP (1434) from Internet Router IP to 255.255.255.255 (?)

DHCP Request (67) from Local Client IP to 255.255.255.255 (?)

NetBios Name Server (137) from Local Client IP to 192.168.1.255 (?)

NetBios Datagram (138) from Local Cient IP to 192.168.1..255 (?)

And also all above Rules were Eneterprice Default Rule

Please Help...

More over i am new to ISA 2006...

I don't see any HTTP requests.

Have you configured the browsers as SecureNAT or Web Proxy clients?

Sorry for the Delay,

Actually i try with Web Proxy client.

After a several attampts i unstall ISA Server 2006 Ent. And install it again it is working now, as web proxy client.

But when i go to install Firewall client, the strange thing is i can not find the Firwall client share in the Server. i mean i could not find the shared folder (\\ISASERVER\mspclnt) even try to search i the server i could not find any in that name.

Please help, do somthing wrong in my installation.

In ISA 2006, the Firewall client share is not installed on the Firewall. Microsoft realized that it's not a good security practice to be hosting file shares on the firewall :)

You can install the Firewall client share on your file server.

Thanks again for your advice, Yes even i read that Microsft Article saying it is not good security practice to be hosting file shares on the firewall.

But, Currently our we don't have dedicated File server, we are using our PDC as File server. at the same time we will hosting own file server soon.

until that i would like to host the firewall client share on the ISA Server, But how can i do that. when i install ISA Server 2006 Ent. it did not install automatically. Can you please guide me, where it is located in ISA Server 2006 Ent. CD and is there any special steps while installing.

Excellent! If the DC is a file server, just put the Firewall client share on the DC.

Best place to get the Firewall client is from the www.microsoft.com/isaserver site.
