HI,

Windows xp with sp2
Firewall client installed.

I get this event:
Source: Microsoft Firewall Client 2
Event ID:1
Application [svchost.exe]. Authentication failed. The user credentials were not accepted by ISA Server. Verify that the user account running this application has the required permissions.
Any idea?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Are all machines members of the same domain and is the user logged in as a domain user?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi,

Yes all the mackine are members of the same domain, the user is a domain user too.
Clients computer and servers reside on different networks.
It's very strange because if I disable the auto Discovery for firewall clients for the clients network and manually configure it on clients I never get this message.
Both Secure NAT and Firewall clients.

Thanks

Hi Tom,

this is the same msg i am getting when the computer restarts. this msg comes before user logs. this svchost is the service which runs various system dlls. it is the one which also runs automatic updates for windows. this service runs with system account. why does it give authentication failure then ?
can system accounts authenticate with firewall client software?
is the firewall client running before the user logs on ? coz the msg says so. if yes then what user account does it use to connect to ISA ?

My automatic updates are not working due to this error

have you enabled this protocol ?

ISA FW Client Port 1745 UDP and TCP

We needed to configure it and enable users to connect to the ISA server using port 1745 TCP and UDP.

It is the port that the Firewall Client uses to connect to the ISA Server
