Hi T,

I would just like to say that you have a great thing here at isaserver.org and being new to the site and relatively new to ISA I can't stop reading!  One question though, maybe it has been answered in another forum, are the articles out of the books or are they seperate documentation?  I plan on buying the ISA 2004 book but am wondering how much of the articles I should be downloading the pdf.  Thanks much!

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for the kind words about the site!

The books have more detailed discussions of many topics, but the site has information that is not included in the books.

In the books I tend to go into more details, so of like being in a college lecture, given the basic information and then discussing a lot of the real world considerations that you have in mind with each of the options. The material on the site is more focused on how to get things working, with some theoretical information included.

HTH,
Tom

Tom,

I have been holding out for the ISA 2006 book but since the release will be close to end of year and the diffferences are clearly stated in articles here and implementation for me occurs in the next month, I am wondering if using the ISA 2004 book as a reference while deploying ISA 2006 is "good enough" to get deployment going.  What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Hi BC,

I think the ISA 2004 will get you started. The differences between ISA 2004 and ISA 2006 are mostly about Web publishing, which I've gone over in pretty good detail on the ISAserver.org Web site. Access rules, etc. are all the same.

HTH,
Tom
