* I'm not talking about internet connection failover - I know this has been done to death! *

Like the web chaining rules let you specify an upstream server if the primary route isn't there, can you do that for all ISA traffic?
2 sites, both with internet connections but MPLS between them - if the local connection goes down, I want ISA to chain to the ISA in the other site and get out that way.

Any way of doing that?

Thanks chaps,

Ferg.

Hi Ferg,

There's really no way to do this. Firewall chaining, unlike Web Proxy chaining, doesn't have this type of failover functionality.

Thanks Tom, yeah that helps. Not the technology, just the answer. ;-)

Just in case anyone else reads this, we've decided on a manual DNS-based failover, with short TTL so we can redirect the clients if either the ISA array or the internet connection fail.

Hi Ferg,

That's a good plan. Not automatic, but it certainly gets the job done.

Thanks!
Tom
