Hi
I have installed ISA Server on a Win2000 machine as a standalone server. However, when joining the domain all users seem to be kicked of and cannot be authenticated.

The PDC and BDC are NT 4.0 machines and I haven't activated Active directory services on the 2000 machine.

Any suggestions?

What kind of Site/Content and Protocol rules do you have configured on your ISA Server? Have you tested it will have all Protocols and all Site/Content open? This is a good way to troubleshoot whether its an authentication problem is related to something else.

Also, are you requiring authentication for Outbound Web Access? If so, you should disable this too.

HTH,

Tom

By your wording, it's difficult to tell if you originally had the Win2K server as a member server of the domain or as a stand alone and if it was authenticating users before. I could assume but won't.
Instead, I'll pass a tip from the Win2K Server help files in which they explain that when using a 2K Server as a stand alone, you need to setup a nontransitive trust relation when using pass thru from 2K to NT3,4.
A personal tip, make sure auditing of the logons is enabled in local security policy and look at the event viewer. Much more helpful in 2K and if you can see the network but are just having a security issue then it may help you in determining why.
