Weird, I was able to get to Microsoft Update before I installed ISA 2006 Standard.  Now, I get the the error number 0x8024502D.  I will check through all of the logs and the system policy and see if I can't findout why.  I will post an update when I find out.

You need to configure a rule that will allow local host to microsoft domain sets.

The default System Policy Allowed Sites has:
*.microsoft.com
*.windows.com
*.windowsupdate.com

My guess is that Microsoft added a domain that I need to find and put in there.

I think you have a DNS problem.
How you allowed your internal DNS access to External?

I am not totally convinced that it is a DNS problem because everything was working before I installed ISA.  Now, I am not ruling out DNS.  But, the instant I installed ISA logging in to the console was slow and I got the Microsoft Update error in my previous post.  I was able to get Updates before I installed ISA.  And I was logging in fast to the console before I installed ISA.  But like I said, I am not totally ruling out DNS, I just don't think that is the problem.

I have my internal DNS forwarding to the ISP.  Browsing the web works just fine from ISA and from any other computer.

i get this problem as well on my 2006 box, i can get to the windows update site no problem but when i choose express or custom update i get error number 0x8024502D as well. The only rule running is the default one that is configured by the install, I haven't changed anything else. Did manage to get around this issue?

ok i turned the microsoft firewall service off in monitoring and then tried and it worked fine  guess its the rules then.

You need to add a new firewall rull.
made this rule access for local host to internet.
Then you can access the internet by you local host.
and after the updates DISABLE access from the local host so no worms and other stuff will access your ISA 2006.

We had the same problem , and i found the information on the microsoft technet site.

here is the information its work for isa 2006 and good luck

Sorry for my bad english.

Yeah, I ended up doing that too.  Kinda of silly if you ask me.  It would be nice to just have it be able to get to Win Updates with going through all of that.
