I run ISA 2004 STD and I can't for the life of me get it to stop reverse caching website content.
The only way I can get it to stop is by disabling caching altogether.
My understanding was that you enabled caching and then defined cache rules to tell ISA what it could cache and what it can't.
I must be wrong in my assumption because live logging shows that it's caching my sites.
Is the problem the default rule? It does not seem that a person can disable it. It contains this;
To: All Networks (and Local Host) Object Size: All Objects SSL Responses: Cache Cache Content & Retrieval: Connect if valid object in cache, cache the response if cacheable HTTP Caching: Disabled
Is ISA 2004's caching not quite (gasp) living up to it's design or is it supposed to be this way?

You can make rules to not cahe something for ex google, you don't want to cache google. So you can control it. You can make a rule not to cache your web sites.
OK, so basically you can enable global caching and you can disable caching for certain sites but you cannot do the reverse?
That gives me something to work with - thanks. Although I can't help but think it would be better to be able to enable caching only on a per site basis.
If you only want to cache a certain subset of sites, you can.
You'll need to perform the following:
Create a Domain Name Set that includes the domains you want to cache, call it My_Cache_Domain_Name_Set
Create a Cache rule thats set as follows: General: My Cache List To: My_Cache_Domain_Name_Set Exceptions: Add the External Network And then specify what you need for the remaining tabs.
If your ISA Server is also running CARP, you'll probably want to use the same reasoning to configure the CARP execptions.
