Right now we have a VPN Connection to another company which we use and must be active 24/7. The problem is we need Remote Users to have access to this VPN connection when they are not in the office.

Currently we have users accessing a computer via Remote Desktop Connection to use this resource. It is very hard to test new software/hardware on this connection because we use it 24/7 and the timeout on the VPN connection is 86400 seconds. If we lose the VPN connection we have to call them to reset the VPN connection which is always a pain.

Anyway, here is an example of our VPN connection to the company:

As stated before we would like VPN Users to VPN into our network and have access to this VPN network.

Previous VPN software I have tried did not allow a a timeout on Phase 1 & 2 of 86400 seconds.

Can ISA Server support this type of connection?

If so, is it then possible to have users VPN in using PPTP or L2TP to our network and have access to this VPN network?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Xanith,

The ISA firewall supports both site-to-site and remote client VPN connections.

HTH,

Thanks for the response. I was pretty sure both connections could be established but I beleive OSPF or another type or routing is required for one VPN Tunnel to communicate with another..

Is this correct or once a user connections to the VPN and gets his address he is just like a users sitting on the network?
