I am currently prepping our infrastructure for a AD and ISA server upgrade this afternoon. However, i'm running into one small burp. I can't seem to get the firewall client to 'autodetect' the isa firewall. I can get it to work if I manually plug in the address. BUT, I would prefer autodetect to work.
I did create a "A" record on our internal DNS server that our clients will query.
Is there something else i'm missing?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Hi Guys,
I tried both of them, but still no luck. I am not sure what I am missing.
I setup the DNS and DHCP just as specified.
On the properties section of INTERNAL:
Auto-Discovery: Enabled and port 8080 (setup that up in DHCP as well)
Firewall client: Enabled, put the FQDN for the ISA Server.
Web Browser on the Firewall client: Enabled auto detect enabled use automatic configuration script Use default URL
Use a web proxy server: enabled FQDN of ISa server in the box
Probably somethign small.
What a day.

ISA normally uses port 8080 for the WP listener and port 80 for the WPAD autoconfig. Why did you change it to 8080?
What do you have for a WPAD URL?
I use WPAD via option 252 in DHCP and it works for both WP and FWC.

I changed it back to port 8080.
For the WPAD URL, I left the default setting in the firewall client tab (default URL). Should I specify one?
I feel like im pretty close, but not there yet.
I appreciate the help.

Huh? The default was 80.
What port do you have for WPAD now? What port do you have for Web Proxy now? What records did you put in DNS? Do you have option 252 in DHCP? If you type the URL in your browser, do you get the file?

Got it.
One quick question: The firewall client only works with IE correct? Can't use other browsers like Firefox?
Also, when you use the firewall client, it *should* show up in the dashboard when firewall clients are connecting right? If so, any ideas why it wouldn't?
Just checking.

To the contrary... FWC is a winsock replacement so it should work with any winsock compliant app.
It can be set to show or hide so it *should* depend on how you configureed it. There is an option to "Hide icon in notification area when connected to ISA Server" in the client GUI. It can also be controlled with the FWCTool.
