Hi all, There are several question I want to ask about ISA. Im just newbies for using ISA. I have ISA 2000 SP1 and run in integrated mode. 1) I have probleam play mms protocol from inside my network to outside server. Other protocol have no problem. I already configure Site and contents Rules(to allow Video and Audio either All content groups) and configure Protocol Rules(allow MMS,PNM and RSTP). But when I try to play, It still not work. I already try to restart services and restart server. Also I enable streaming media filter and set Disable WMT live stream splitting but dont work. For your information also, I already try for my client with WMP 9,10 and 11 but with no luck. It is anything else that I miss? 2) How can I know that I am using secureNAT client or firewall client or web proxy client? For your information, my user need to set proxy at web browser to surf internet. 3)For play streaming video, is it we must have WMS in our internal network and I set to live stream splitting? Thanks for your help.

Try http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa/2000/proddocs/isadocs/cmt_streamfilter.mspx?mfr=true for extra info... Alternately, can you give an example of a site/url you have that DOESN'T work so I/we can test and see what rules we are using that DO allow it? quote:

Differences in client types are outlined here - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa/2000/isafp1/isasct.mspx By your description they are "at least" webproxy clients but depending on how your default gateway is set, they could also be SecureNAT... and if you have the Firewall client installed... they'd be all 3! quote:

Your WMS must reside ON the ISA server according to that doc... and that's the way I've always done it. I know it appears as though you can reference another WMS server in the dialog options but I've always done it off the SAME physical server.... and has worked a treat for me.

thanks AHIT, From your reply, I understand that we MUST have a server windows media player or install windows media services on ISA server to allow our client to access mms protocol right? So, conclusion, we cannot access mms protocol without this server. Please correct me if im wrong. I will try to configure this Windows media server first and I will paste the result here. TQ. Between, my testing site is www.malaysiakini.tv .

If you want to SPLIT the stream so multiple ppl can watch the single download stream then you must have WMS. Nothing I've found indcates that in order to play MMS you need WMS. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Media_Services but MMS is basically a method of storyboarding the underlying media with titles etc etc. By the way, I could not get your sample site to work for me either. If I narrowed down to an actual file it would download and play in mediaplayer, but NOT within the web-browser itself. I was just prompted for credentials, a second or 2 of 'connecting to media' and then nothing happens.. Try out some of the videos at http://ninemsn.video.msn.com/ as my ISA logs indicate they utilise MMS:// as part ofthe URL.
