Everything was working fine until...
I get te following error when i try to backup my ISA 2004 Configuration. I get the error also when i try to change my https listener and when i try to enable "firewall client support" for the internal network
"ISA Server cannot load the property page" Error: 0x8000ffff Catastrophic failure
I get the error on my https listener when i go to the Tab Networks, i can't delete the listener but i can create another. The problem is, when i change the listener on the rule i get the same error.
Thanx for helping me,
Jeroen van Zanten

Hi ,
Change the order of your firewall rules, then export the FIREWALL rules only , and import them again. After this , export the whole ISA server and import it again. You might need to change the order several times putting HTTP publishing rules all the way on top and the rest under it. Be sure to Apply the settings before exporting,.
hop eit helps.

I had a similar problem and found that there was a scheduled report that did not show up in the report view, but if I clicked on "Create and Configure Report Jobs" in the Reports task pane. It showed a scheduled job. I deleted the scheduled job and was able to run the backup successfully.

I recently encountered this problem and was able to resolve it by checking the properties of all my Network Objects. I found a corrupt Web Listener whose Preferences tab would generate the 'Catastrophic failure' message. I changed the one firewall rule using this listener, deleted the corrupt listener, and then I was able to Apply my changes without an error. I then recreated the listener, reassigned it to the rule, applied the changes, and now I can backup my configuration.

Make sure you are not managing ISA 2004 from the managment consloe on another machine. It might be still connected and causing a conflict. regards RS

We had just the same „Catastrophic failure“ error. One policy was double, one of them with {numbers} behind the name. Try to changing or delete this or any above caused the error. But I was able to delete the policy below, and then I can fix and apply all other changes.
