Guys, I am changing ISP in 2 weeks, as you can imagine the new ISP provided all new IPs , I already have the tasks for DNS changes but I am trying to find the best way to change the IPs on my ISA 2006 without having to re-create all the policies and rules. What you will will be the best way to aproach this problem? thanks Gaston

Hi, why do you have to recreate all the rules? Can´t you just change it? Regards, Paulo Oliveira.

paulo, If I replace the IPS and TCP-IP settings on the external NIC on my windows Machine and then try to start ISA , will ISA Start? if so, it is easy to just change the rules to the new IPs. but I am not sure if ISA will start if the rules cannot find the proper listeners loaded, can you confirm? that can be one of the simplest approach if possible. but as I said, I am not sure. can someone confirm? Thanks Gaston

Hi Gaston, I think you don´t need to stop ISA service to make this change. You just need to change the IP address of the ISA itself and web listeners. Regards, Paulo Oliveira.

Good luck with your IP Change. I didn't realize how horrible ISA was until I tried to route two subnets through ISA. I used ISA 2006 to protect my publicly routable network. When I reached capacity and needed to extend my IP block, I found it impossible. Microsoft Routing and Remote Access support multiple subnets, NLB supports multiple subnets, and it looks like it would be a cake walk to just add another subnet. But, for whatever simplistically lame reason, ISA purposely restricts two subnets from being labeled as “internal.” So, when you do your move, don't expect to keep both blocks routing internally. Or you’ll end up with two spare servers to kick with FreeBSD for a firewall and a pair of ISA 2006 licenses to ebay. Your fellow disgruntled ISA User, -Brian
