I recently setup a 2006 ISA server to replace a 2000 ISA server. The 2000 ISA server has IP 192.168.1.2 and since it needed to be up while I created rules and did some testing I used 192.168.1.15 for the 2006 ISA server. After I had created and tested the rules I turned off the 2000 ISA server and changed the IP for the internal network on the 2006 ISA server from .15 to .2. This however did not work whereas it had been working when it was .15. Is there any way to make a change to the IP address after it has been setup or do I have to run the setup with the IP address that is going to be used? I did testing by giving the 2006 ISA server one of the five external IP addresses that isn't normally used and was successful routing traffic in both directions until I changed the internal IP address of the 2006 ISA server. Thanks in advance.

Are clients accessing it by the IP# or the Name? Did the Name update properly in DNS dynamically?

The issue isn't specifically client access. The issue is all around with published services such as smtp and http that point to specific servers. When the change was made those stopped working. There was no name change for the server, just the IP. I did create a cname for the those workstations with the ISA firewall client that forwarded the old server name to the new one. However, as I mentioned in the first paragraph, this isn't really the issue. What it seems like to me is that the server expects to be whatever IP address it was when ISA was installed and changing that seems to break the rules that were created.

Both inbound and outbound access stopped working after I changed the IP address for the network adapter on the internal network.

Have u adjusted the Internal Network range inside ISA Server ? as for the inbound connection, delete your old rules and re create them with your new Internal IP.

The internal network range didn't change and the IPs of the rules didn't change. I have not been able to find anywhere that defines localhost. The IP of the ISA server is the only IP that changed and I cannot find any place in the rules or otherwise that has that IP. I did make sure that the IP was updated in the DNS.

Not sure if you resolved this yet or not, but I just used the same method when migrating to ISA 2006. After you renumber the internal nic, you must change the IP on the IIS SMTP, and obviously any Firewall Policies that reference that IP.

I don't believe you did quite the same thing. I tried removing and readding rules. However, the IPs for those servers never changed, just that of the ISA server. Subsequently, last weekend I installed ISA server with the IP set to the end IP address after removing the old server from the network. It meant missing some of the super bowl, but football is pretty boring anyways.
