I  think what I am experiencing has to do with DNS, not sure.  I have ISA 2006 installed on a server 2003 that is in the domain. I can connect to the firewall with secure NAT. I assume it is secure NAT. Then when I  install the client and rrun the auto detect, noting can not detect the ISA server. I use the manual , i put in the FQDN and it returns the real name ,,, and it has the netbios name. I accept that and the client is enable and the settings are in IE to use port 8080 that the client auto configured. All is well till I use "authenticsted users"  Then I get error 11002. I read somewhere that secure nat , if used with authentication, will not work.  The client is enable, I can also connect on another workstation that does not have the client and I can connect using the client on another as long as I do not use autentication of any kind. I want to use authentication, groups, single users etc,,, so am I using the client or secure nat,, what is wrong with the client if it is running.

Hi again.

you can use a single machine with the 3 ISA Server Client types.

A Single machine can be a SecureNat client, Firewall Client and Web Proxy Client.

Make sure that the Checkbox : Require all users to authenticate is not enabled, this can be found in the Properties of the Internal Network.

elmajdal  I read and implemented the article. When I click on automatic detection in the client, the client returns the netbios name of the ISA server. I still can not use authenticated users, groups and single users. Also non client workstations can still hit the internet. Thanks for your help.
