Hi Everyone,

Clients seem to be dropping out when browsing the internet and I believe it’s the proxy server disconnecting them.
Here is an example of what is happening.
A user opens up internet explorer and is able to access the internet without any issues. The user then starts browsing around at a fast speed with no issues, and then about 2-3minutes within browsing the user clicks a link and the page does not go anywhere and no error pages load up it just stays on the same page and says “Done” on the bottom left hand corner. Then if the user closes internet explorer and re-opens they are back on the internet without any dramas then it happens all over again.
I performed a netstat –a on the client machine when they first open up the internet explorer and browsing is working they get
TCP    ROOM33-01:1595         proxy.coomoorasc.vic.edu.au:8080  ESTABLISHED
 TCP    ROOM33-01:1596         proxy.coomoorasc.vic.edu.au:8080  ESTABLISHED

Then when the client machine stops  browsing and just stays on the same page here is what they get
TCP    ROOM33-01:1599         proxy.coomoorasc.vic.edu.au:8080  TIME_WAIT
TCP    ROOM33-01:1605         proxy.coomoorasc.vic.edu.au:8080  TIME_WAIT
TCP    ROOM33-01:1606         proxy.coomoorasc.vic.edu.au:8080  ESTABLISHED
TCP    ROOM33-01:1607         proxy.coomoorasc.vic.edu.au:8080  ESTABLISHED-

After a few minutes it becomes the following when browsing stops working

TCP    ROOM33-01:1599         proxy.coomoorasc.vic.edu.au:8080  TIME_WAIT
TCP    ROOM33-01:1605         proxy.coomoorasc.vic.edu.au:8080  TIME_WAIT

Has anyone had this same sort of problem or got any ideas?

Cheers!

All the trouble shooting i have done points to the proxy server.

Maybe some sort of misconfiguration, i have gone through it carefully and can not find any issues, but i need more opinions!!!

Issue Resolved.

Took a good couple of months and lots of trouble shooting to figure the problem out.

It was a issue with internet explore there was a addon that was enabled causing browsing to stop working.

I took over this network a couple of years ago and the previous network manager had the same image deployed on student and staff machines.

I relized that staff laptops that was a differnt image to student and staff desktop machines did not have the issue. I then created a new fresh image for the staff machine as there is only about 15 of them throughout the school and they stop having the problem.

I then went back to a student machine, reset the IE to default and i still had the issue. I then installed firefox on a student machine and did not have the issue. So i disasbled all addons in IE and tested for 3 days and it did not drop out.

So i went through each addon to find the one that needs to be dsiabled and resolve it :>

Whoooooooooo, hooooooooooo
