Colocated DHCP/ISA Server - 8.Feb.2004 2:34:00 AM

I have a DHCP server on the same machine as my ISA server.

DHCP requests from clients on the internal network get denied by default rule. The log says the DHCP (BOOTP) source of 0.0.0.0 comes from the External network and is therefore blocked. I tried setting up various access rules and even published a DHCPS (server) to no avail.

Basically, its SAddr=0.0.0.0 SPort=68 DAddr=255.255.255.255 DPort=67.

Is there some simple way to do this?

Thanks,
Andrew

Ok several things you need to check here :

- DHCP should only work on the Internal NIC ( DHCP manager -> bind to 'internal NIC'

- Network rule : ROUTE between local machine ( ISA ) and Internal network 1

- Firewall rule : Allow DHCP and BOOTP FROM Local TO Internal

that should work.
It's easier to do this with ICMP first , then you don't have to reboot every time [Smile]

Kind regards,
Lex P.

Hi Andrew,

There is a bug right now regarding the DHCP server being on the ISA firewall.

You'll need to enable DHCP reply to the internal network and DHCP request from anywhere.

HTH,
Tom

Hi Meibo,

You are correct, it is a bug. It will be fixed before the product is finalized.
