More than a year ago I have posted a guide to open up ports for Command & Conquer Generals / Zero Hour

I was not able to play the game lately and I got many connection problems in both custom match and quick match.

It took me a while to figure out why and its because the EA (Electronic Arts) support website for the game has wrong port listed and it seems that they have changed servers and ports. GameSpy is involved somehow in this.

Here is the updated ports in order to play C&C ZH behind an ISA Server:

1. Create a Server Publishing rule (Name: C&C ZH - Game Spy)

2. Enter the computers IP adress of the game computer

3. In the Select Protocol Window click new

4. In the Protocol Definition Wizard window type: C&C ZH Protocol

5. In the primary Connection Information windows click New and add the following protocols:

TCP, Inbound 13139
TCP, Inbound 27901
TCP, Inbound 28910
TCP, Inbound 29900
TCP, Inbound 29920
TCP, Inbound 3840
TCP, Inbound 4005
TCP, Inbound 4808 - 4810
TCP, Inbound 4995
TCP, Inbound 6667
TCP, Inbound 7000 - 7002
UDP, Receive Send 13139
UDP, Receive Send 27900
UDP, Receive Send 27901
UDP, Receive Send 28910
UDP, Receive Send 29900
UDP, Receive Send 29920
UDP, Receive Send 4321
UDP, Receive Send 4995
UDP, Receive Send 7000 - 7002

6. Click next

7. In the Do you want to use secondary connection click No then Next

8. Click Finish

9. In the Selected Protocol window click Next

10. In the Listen for request window check External and then click Next

11. Click finish

In the C&C Generals / Zero Hour Game => Game option => In the Firewall Port Override Field enter: 27901
