I have tried to disable the IP auto config in my win 2K server by typing the parameterIPAutoconfigurationenable to 0
in the registry. I reboot the server and the adapter connected to the cable modem still has the "autoconfig" enabled.
Any suggestions?
Thanks mark

Hi,Im looking to do the same thing.
It appears there is 4 entries on my system under the interfaces key. (I have 2 network cards installed, and inside and outside card)
I have no clue how you tell which is the inside and which is the outside network card in the Interfaces key.
Im following the example from the tutorial, and how you match which of these keys is your right outside network card is *unclear*.
In the Tutorial Example, they seem to Match:
this MAC address ... 00-01-03-B3-4E-6C
with this Interface number... CE22FD5-FC5F-4C6F-A655-C262D2C80D2F
Unclear how these match up I would say, maybe its in octets or something >?
Thanks for any input

well I went through the tutorial and it "seemed" to fix the problem. I went in to the REG and put the IPAUTO... in all 4 of the listed interface'sIt did not semm to do any thing
The settins in the DHCP client section seem to fix the problem
feel free to email me and mabe we can work this out togeter.
I too am confused on how to determin which GUID corisponds to which NIC. (2 NIC's in server)

Hi Mark,What I ended up doing was noting the IP address of the external card (through Ipconfig /all). Then when I was in the registry, I just looked for that IP under the various adapters listed (in my case there were 4 entries - I believe 2 for each card)
From there I added the IPAutoconfigurationenable to 0.
Ill be monitoring again today, during the various restarts of testing.

A little bit for APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing)To enable/disable APIPA
Parameter: IPAutoconfigurationEnabled Type: Reg_Dword Value: 0 or 1
Key: tcpip/parameters for all NICs Key: tcpip/parameters/interfaces/interface for that NIC
To set a Custom Subnet Mask (default /16 )
Parameter: IPAutoconfigurationMask Type: Reg_SZ Value: A valid subnet mask (eg:255.255.255.0)
Key: tcpip/parameters for all NICs Key: tcpip/parameters/interfaces/interface for that NIC
To set a Custom Subnet (default 196.254.x.y)
Parameter: IPAutoconfigurationSubnet Type: Reg_SZ Value: a valid Subnet (eg: 192.168.1.0)
Key: tcpip/parameters for all NICs Key: tcpip/parameters/interfaces/interface for that NIC
Hugs!

Hi Sapo,Good info! A key point is that the registry keys are case sensitive.
Thanks!
