make sure you do not put your ISP DNS on your ISA External NIC !!!
read this : http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/Configuring_ISA_Server_Interface_Settings.html

Hi Asad,

you might also post the result of the command "ipconfig /all" on ISA *unmodified*.

Browser is giving me "Server or DNS Error",  i configured forwarders & i also tried without forwarders.
When i ipconfig it shows me the following result
Host name .....................................................: Server
Primary DNS Suffix...........................................: nipa.edu
Node Type ......................................................: Unknown
IP routing enabled ............................................ No
WINS Proxy Enabled ......................................... No
Dns Suffix Search List ....................................... nipa.edu

As i have two NIC's one shows Real IP assigned by ISP & on this NIC NetBIOS over TCP/IP is disable also DHCP disabled. On other NIC which is LAN configured 192.168.0.1 with DNS IP : 192.168.0.1.

I can ping ISP's real Ip & their gateway but i can't ping their DNS. When contacted, they said that it is problem on your end.
So could you please help me in this issue? I am sick of this i tried many options but all in vain.
At last i have no option to switch back to Win 2K Server & ISA 2K.
Please sort this problem for me.

Regards
Asad

Hi Asad,

what's your definition for the word *unmodified*?

quote:

On other NIC which is LAN configured 192.168.0.1 with DNS IP : 192.168.0.1.

Where is your DNS server installed? On the ISA server itself or on an internal server?

HTH,
Stefaan

DNS is installed on the same server where ISA is installed.
As far as definition for "unmodified" is concern is am blank about this coz i am novice in this area & i have no clue about this also i have applied the same technique like i configured the ISA 2K Server. So if it is different method than ISA 2k then plz tell me coz i tried alot options for configuring this problem that i am facing from 2 weeks or so.
Could you please help me in this area?

Hi Asad,

don't you have an internal DNS server? I highly suggest you do!

To summarize the best DNS solution:
1. internal NIC on ISA is first in order.
2. internal NIC on ISA s configured with internal DNS server.
3. internal DNS server is configured with your ISP DNS servers as forwarders.
4. external NIC on ISA do *not* have any DNS configuration.
5. ISA has a rule allowing the DNS protocol from your internal DNS server to the configured forwarders for all users (anonymous).

Stefaan

Thank you for hosting my images. Reason for using Beta version is that I have downloaded this version & our company is not wanted to invest in ISA Server licesed version thats why. I brought some CD's from market but some of their components were not working properly.
Now from these pictures can you tell me where is problem? In my NIC? in my configuration? in software? or in operating system?

Sorry to say what do you mean by internal DNS Server (if DNS configured on this server is said to be internal server then yes i have the internal DNS Server on this computer)

One more thing when i give the command nslookup www.yahoo.com it shows me
Server: itcenter.edu (my domain name)
IP: 192.168.0.1 (my server LAN IP )
& for the next entries it gives me error.

Regards
Asad

Hi Asad,

quote:

Sorry to say what do you mean by internal DNS Server

This means on *another* internal server, not the ISA server itself! This is the preferred configuration.

If you only have a DNS server running on ISA itself, make sure that System Policy Rule #8 is enabled and that you have an access rule for DNS from Internal to Local Host.

HTH,
Stefaan
