Hello,
I have an ISA Server 2004 with a single NIC for just PROXY Service. I have to log all the web proxy traffic except the messenger traffic
When i use Messenger (Windows Live Messenger), it get the proxy address in the Internet Explorer and so the Messenger traffic is logged (connection and the adverts http connection). SO in my Web proxy log, everything is writting. As it is impossible to set all the destination of this connection (with the adverts), i could not create a rule just for not log for Messenger traffic.
I see in the Messenger Parameters that i could set a Socks Proxy on port 1080 (I repeat that i could not set a another Proxy parameter because it takes the parameter in the  Internet Explorer) :

Could Isa 2004 be a Socks Proxy ? i was just thinking that i could install a new isa server just for the Socks Proxy and put its ip address in the Messenger..

Any other ideas ?

PS : i have try to patch the Messenger to remove the advert. The advert window is disable but Messenger is still trying to go to http advert address and so log the http traffic.

hello,
I have found a solution !
In Live Messenger parameter, i put a special user and password that i don't logg in the proxy with a special rule..
So all the http, https traffic for Live messenger are not logging..and it works great !!!

If it helps anyone else..

Bye !
