I have a question about Dual WAN, if I put a dual want firewall in front of ISA such as a SonicWALL Pro 2040 Enchaned or Xincom (sp?) since the firewall has one IP address internally how does it know when the packets coming back from ISA Server need to go out the orignal WAN that requested them?

So if I have on both WAN1/WAN2 port 80 being forwarded to ISA how does it know that the information coming back from ISA isn't for website1 on WAN2, or website2 on WAN1?

Thanks
Leathal

Hi,

thatīs because when the firewall receives this request, it keeps the information of  the packet (source, destination, SYN, ACK,...) to make sure this is not a spoof packet or some other kind of attack. So, when ISA responds the request your edge firewall know exactly what to do.

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.
