How is DNS configured within your environment and on the network cards?

Hi,

you should configure your ISA NICs as following: http://blog.msedge.org.uk/2010/04/recommended-network-card-configuration_14.html

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.

This is probably a better guide for ISA Server 2004 rather than UAG:

Cheers

You now have two to choose from

Do you think we need a TMG one, of does the UAG one suffice for this do you think?

Cheers

JJ

The UAG one was on my IEs address bar cache, since it was the last one I viewed.

I think both cover very well for the three products: ISA, TMG and UAG.

By the way, always doing a great work!

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.

Hi,

is ISA your edge firewall?

Does your internal DNS server resolves external domain names properly?

Can you provide details on your HTTP and DNS access rules?

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.

Dear paulo.oliveira,

ISA is our Firewall,

i don't know how to check the following: Please let me know how to check this.
Does your internal DNS server resolves external domain names properly?

DNS Access Rule:

Action: Allow
Protocols: All Outbound Traffic
From: DNS Server , Internal
To: External
User: All User
Content Type: All Content type

No Idea How to check HTTP Rule

Thanks

Hi,

create two separated access rules, like the following article: Internal DNS Forwarding Through ISA Server 2004/2006

You may not want to include POP3 and SMTP protocols on "Allow Internet" access rule, since these are used for send/receive e-mail from a external e-mail server.

Use nslookup utility to make queries and see if you DNS server is working properly: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/200525

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.

Dear paulo,

Thanks for your Support, i checked all my server DNS setting as per the article, in the DNS setting
Forwarders tab there are some other IPs mention and i change it to our current ISP's DNS IPs. and i create the Rule for ISA server as per your article, then the result is same.

Waiting for your comment

Thanks

Hi,

I can't think anything else about it. The main configuration are the ones I've told you to do.

It's hard to tell if there's something besides it without knowing your environment.

Hope someone come with other ideas.

Regards,
Paulo Oliveira.
