I use the firewall client with my ISA2006. Clients may be the same as the 2004 client, but I was under the impression they either were the same, or should work just as well.

I have a lot of anonymous issues. Clients will connect and show in the logs as authenticated, but the next thing they will ask for will show up as anonymous. Some applications get blocked as they do not authenticate at all. For example I try using seccheck, won't connect as it gets denied for being anonymous. I do not "require users to be authenticated", but my rules are set by groups.

I do use a secure computing content filter, I do not know if it is hijacking the info and stripping off the authentication or not though.
