hello there,

i try to install a isa 2004 on a windows 2003 server..
everytime i tried it the installation cancels with error "the function NetLocalGroupAddMembers failed with status = 2220 at the function AddNetSvcToNetCfgOp"
has anyone an idea how to solve this problem.?

hm..
sounds like permission-trouble.
Are you member of Enterprise admins on that server?
Is it a clean install of Windows 2003 server?
Any virusscanners active ?
wierd programs installed like Personal firewalls?
...
we need more info

hi lex and tom

i think too that its a permission-trouble...
it�s a clean install of windows 2003 server and i�m logged in as domain-admin
virus scanner is installed but inactive during installation
and the machine is a secondary domain controller

Hi Cbob,

That might be the problem. I've heard of a number of install issues on DCs. Not sure what the problem is yet, though.

hm.. sounds like you found the problem :
NetLocalGroupAddMembers
there's no local groups on Domain Controllers (only domain groups). Actually there is local users ( SYSTEM / ADMINISTRATORS etc are local USERS) but no groups as far as I know. They're removed by dcpromo. ( correct me if I'm wrong though )
Therefor it cannot add any members to a group that doesn't exist.
Maybe it's fixable with a bypass but I would suggest you install it on a member server.
