Morning,

If an ISA server service stops what is the best way to make the machine reboot it's self?  I tried the settings in ISA under alerts, the settings on the service it's self and I tried kicking off a reboot.bat file using shutdown.exe /r nothing seems to work correctly.  The reboot.bat was a microsoft solution.

When a service on this machine stops for any reason I want to to reboot.  Is this not possible?

Thanks,
Scott

whats the cause of the FW service to stop ??

is it all the time doing this issue ?? i have a friend who told me once that in the properties of the ISA Firewall service, the action in case of failure is to restart the service and that sometimes this services fails and it automatically restart by itself.

HTH

Many different reasons.  Sometimes system resources and sometimes hackers.  I have 4 ISA ferewalls.  One does it often.  It is the most heavily used.  Two never have issues and one only now and then.  The two with issues are the ones my users browse the internet thru.

The system sometimes shuts it's self down when it thinks it's being hacked...

The system has pleanty of memory.  I am upgrading the system to an HP DL360 with 2 GB ram in the next week or so...  I will get a better idea once complete if it's software or hardware related.

If you don't limit MSDE's memory consumption, it may take all 2 gig.

I don't think it is a good idea to automatically reboot on service stop without notifying someone.  I use a product called WhatsUp that can monitor services and alert by paging, SMS, etc.

MSDE?

I use ipMonitor 7.5 to monitor my servers.  I get warnings for the service being down.  I just want the system to reboot if the firewall service stops.
