Hi guys,

i've just installed the Firewall Client for ISA2006 on to our dev guys machines - but as soon as they try to browse to localhost to view content from their local install of IIS the get an inetinfo.exe exception and IIS needs to be restarted.

IIS works fine as long as the Firewall Client is not installed.

has this happened to anyone else? does anyone have a fix for this?

a little about my setup:
- ISA Server 2006 with 2 nics
- internet access works fine
- some protocols blocked
- only allowing authenticated users
- AD on local intranet auths users
- web proxy and securenat work perfectly

thanks :)

Hello

I had the same problem, and I removed a Firewall client 2006 and installed an original FWC 2004 from ISA 2004 CD. So I solved the problem.

Use their local machine name instead of LocalHost.

When you use LocalHost it gets "suffixed" with the Domain Name and becomes "localhost.mycompany.com" which ISA cannot resolve to properly because every machine on the LAN is "localhost.mycompany.com" from its own perspective and therefore ISA cannot determine that it is local to the LAN.

When you use the local machine name it will be "suffixed" with the Domain Name and you will get "thepc.mycompany.com" which ISA can resolve (if your DNS scheme is correct) and the ISA will know that it is internal to the LAN and the Firewall Client software should drop out and stay out of the way.

That is my shot in the dark anyway.
