Ok so I know this is probably an odd request, but I have a client who needs to be able to automate the process of changing the "state" of the HTTP REdirector filter.  They are a school and they are running ISA server together with Symantec Web Security to protect the network.  Client machines are configured with the proxy server pointing to Symantec Web Security and normally the HTTP Redirector filter is configured to deny access to SecureNAT and Firewall Clients. So that students cannot bypass SWS simply by removing the proxy settings.

However now they have a new appliation that they need to run, and unfortunately it will not use the proxy server settings from IE, nor does it have the possiblity to plug in an address for a proxy server specifically for it to use.  So with the HTTP redirector set this way this application simply will not work.   The application is used by one class for one hour per day.  What they would like to do is use a script running in a scheduled task to set the HTTP Redirector filter to redirect clients through the ISA proxy during this one hour period and then run another script at the end of that hour that will set it back to denying the traffic.

By adapting some of the scripting from the ISATOOLS script I was able to successfully query the "STATE" attribute of the HTTP REdirector Filter, which simply returns a 4 for their normal setting and a 1 for when they having the Redirector redirecting traffic through the proxy.  However attempting to change the State does not work.  ISA manager will show the state of the filter with no radio buttons selected at all, and by watching the key in the registry where this is saved I was able to see that when I change the setting in ISA Manager it does not write the configuration to the "BLOB" value the same way as the script does.

Any suggestions.
