Hi, I am trying to figure out what causes the following event log entrys ..... but so far no luck :-( Event Type: Information Event Source: IAS Event Category: None Event ID: 5050 Date: 3/05/2006 Time: 3:12:56 p.m. User: N/A Computer: ISA01 Description: The description for Event ID ( 5050 ) in Source ( IAS ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event The machine is running Windows 2003 SP1 (all hotfixes are installed) and ISA 2004 SP2. It is used as Firewall and Webproxy server. Any suggestions? Cheers, Christoph

Hi Tom! No, IAS is not installed on the server. The machine was member of the domain, put out of the domain, ISA was installed on it and after that we decided to rejoin the machine to the domain :-) While the machine was not a member of the domain radius was used for authentication but it is no longer used. I turned it of as I am now using AD groups. The Radius server is still defined under "Define radius server". This error is odd - I found nothing in the MS support database and other people having the error and posted it to newsgroups got no answers :-( Cheers, Christoph

Hi Chistoph, OK, what server? You only mentioned the ISA firewall, so I assumed that IAS was installed on the firewall. So there is an IAS server on another machine on the network? Is the firewall configured to use IAS or are there still IAS entries in the firewall configuration? Thanks! Tom

Hi Tom! The IAS was (and still is) running on a server in the "inside" network - IAS was never installed on the machine running ISA server. IAS was used for authentication when the machine was not part of the domain. The firewall is now part of the domain and is using AD groups for authentication. So technically speaking the ISA was only a "IAS client" Do you think that the error (maybe) occurs because I left the radius server's IP address under "define radius server"? Cheers, Christoph
