I have recently set up an ISA 2006 server. I am having a problem with authentication whereby all anonymous users are being denied access. I want these users to be prompted for logon credentials - how do I go about doing this?

All AD authenticated users work 100%.

Regards,
Aadil

Hello Aadil,

I do not recommend you to mark the check box "Require all users to authenticate", because as you seeing all anonymous access will be denied. Some applications, such as anti-virus programs, doesn´t support authentication.
You can create a rule and allow only an AD user set or all authenticated users, for internet access, for example and ISA will allow only this users to access internet.

Most of browsers pass the credentials of the logged on user, if the computer is joined to domain.

Paulo Oliveira.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your response.

I seem to have found where my problem was - it seems that IE 7 uses intergrated authentication which does not allow for this prompt to pop-up. After disabling this function (Enable Integrated Windows Authentication) in IE (Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced) - the pop-up is now enabled.

Aadil

Hi Paulo,

Sorry, hope I did not offend you by calling you Paul.

I was quite amazed to find that it was Internet Explorer - I didn't even think of it in the beginning. Good thing I have a Microsoft AD/Desktop specialist around who pointed out that it may be the browser that could be causing it.

Regards,
Aadil
