Hey all,

I'm in the process of setting up ISA server 2k6 on our email relay server (it was in a simple nic bridge). Now I'm going through the documentation I have, and it says enter the WAN info into the external NIC.
^Does that actually work while I'm behind a firewall?

I'll also mention, our hw firewall registers our users dhcp, so there is no option in removing it (plus we just renewed the license for it).

should i just enter wan info into the external nic anyways? or assign a static internal address (meaning external and internal nics both have internal ip's)?

our setup isn't really listed in isa (ie: back-end or front-end, etc).
We have our hw firewall, and then isa 2k6 (with relays inbound/outbound email, also runs are gfi suite for email scanning, and we'll need to setup publishing for the owa). I would guess our setup is more like a double front end?

anyways, all help appreciated,

Hi X,

What you want to do is configure the ISA Firewall as the high security back end firewall that protects you from the security weaknesses in your front-end firewall.

HTH,
Tom

and the answer is DHCP can't be in front of ISA, creates many, many problems...
