Everytime I install ISA Server 2006/2004 I can be on any machine linux or Windows and it shows up like this.
So, I tried looking at the code and the only thing that doesn't load up is this link here:
http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/themes/theme1/theme.asp
It doesn't load it just gives me this error message:
The page cannot be displayed
Explanation: There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Try the following:

Refresh page: Search for the page again by clicking the Refresh button. The timeout may have occurred due to Internet congestion.
Check spelling: Check that you typed the Web page address correctly. The address may have been mistyped.
Access from a link: If there is a link to the page you are looking for, try accessing the page from that link.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The HTTP message includes an unsupported header or an unsupported combination of headers. (12156)

Does anyone know how to fix this? My methods are set to allow all and I have even tried allowing all extensions
and still no avail. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sath,

Make sure your ISA firewall is fully updated with all service packs and hotfixes.

HTH,
Tom

Hi Ryan,

Works fine for me. Looks like an IE7 bug.

HTH,
Tom

It does this for linux and Windows systems running IE 6 and 7. It has been an on going issue for ISA Server 2004 and 2006 and it's getting really frusterating b/c nothing I do seems to work. I have even resorted to
allowing all methods, all headers, and all signitures and it still doesn't work.

Hi Ryan,

Then there's something horked about your deployment, because I definitely can't repro the problem.

I know, but it's weird because I just used the default settings in the installation
setup. This has happened on all versions of ISA Server I have tried. I just don't
get it. Maybe there is something wrong with the new services it installed/enabled?
I know it disables ICS and a few other things. Maybe one of the services it disabled
had the setup needed to allow those header types? I don't know but I am literally
lost on the subject b/c I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application. I'm going
to install the application again and let you know what settings I used.

Hi Sathenzar,

OK, let's say I couldn't repro it in ISA 2004.

I'm testing from an ISA 2006 machine now, and I see the same problem.

I would configure that site for Direct Access so that you can bypass the Web proxy.

HTH,
Tom

I read this article: http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/Configuring_Web_Proxy_Clients_for_Direct_Access.html
The only problem is it's hard to follow b/c I'm using ISA Server 2006 Ent and you're using what seems to be ISA Server 2000. I managed to find it under Networks->Internal->Properties Web Browser. I clicked Add on the Directly Acess these servers or domains and added *.gamedev.net and it still doesn't work. Is there anything I am forgetting? Thanks.

Yes, you should use the ISA 2004 Direct Access article series.

I'm not sure I'm having the exact same problem, but I am getting messed up display of certain web pages, even microsoft.com. I tried adding *.microsoft.com to direct access, and it hasn't fixed the problem.

What is the problem exactly? Format of the web page and exclusion of images. microsoft.com shows up as nothing but text links randomly scattered over the page and absolutely no images included. same problem occurs with techrepublic.com and myspace.com. (and I have added both sites to the direct access list)

Is there something I need to enable/disable?

After a quick check, the problem only occurs in ie 6.5 and 7, not in firefox 1.5.0.7

thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi J,

Configure the browser to be a Web proxy client and also to use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections.

HTH,
Tom

I really hate ISA Server at this point. It's been nothing but complete an utter disaster. I already configured
the ISA Server (going to Network->Internal->Web Browser) to use Direct Access with *.gamedev.net and www.gamedev.net even
and nothing works. It still shows up like the first image I posted above. Is there something I need to do on my client?
It does the same thing on my primary server and all my client computers.

U Have ISA 2004 SP2 installed right ???

Then , this is not how u configure Direct Access .

Have u Applied this hotfix after u installed ISA 2004 SP2 ? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;920716

then to configure Direct Access, read this article : http://blogs.isaserver.org/pouseele/2006/07/21/solving-the-directly-access-these-servers-or-domains-issue-in-isa-server-2004-sp2/

in brief:

remember that you have to specify the destinations as URL! So try one of the following:
- http://host.domain.tld/* -> only http requests to only this host
- */host.domain.tld/* -> anything to only this host
- *host.domain.tld/* -> anything to all destinations containing this host
HTH,
Stefaan

Tom-
Thank you for the advice.

However, both of those items are set, and microsoft.com and techrepublic.com still don't display correctly (I'm sure there are others, I just haven't found all of them yet).
I've posted some pics of how the display is messing up in ie and in firefox on my company's website. Perhaps the visual will serve as a clue for what is happening to cause this problem.
(if the html doesn't work, here's link 1 : http://www.akronbrass.com/images/iemicrosofterror.bmp  and link 2: http://www.akronbrass.com/images/firefoxmicrosoftdisplayerror.bmp )

And I'll also have to amend my last post. The reason the sites were displaying correctly in firefox was due to the fact that firefox was configured to use the old proxy server when I tested it. After resetting it to the new isa server, the problem occurs exactly as it does in ie.

again, thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Josh,

Is IE installed as a Web proxy client and configured to use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections?

Thanks!
Tom

Tom-
Yes it is.

But just to verify, here's what I've done in IE.
Click tools>Internet Options>Connections>Lan Settings.
In the window that opens, the 'use automatic configuration script' box is checked. It points to http://myisaserver.fqdn/array.dll?Get.Routing.Script
The box below that, 'use a proxy server for your lan' is also checked. The address and port information are correct. I also have checked 'bypass proxy server for local addresses'
In the advanced tab of tools>internet options I have checked both 'use http 1.1' and 'use http 1.1 through proxy connections'

neither of these actions has resolved the problem unfortunately.

any thoughts?

I should also mention I have the Microsoft Firewall Client for ISA Server installed on my test pc. It is the ISA 2006 firewall client that came with the installation of ISA 2006.
