AFAIK, regardless of the sort order specified for logging, new entries always end up at the bottom of the list, necessitating scrolling. I would like new entries to come in at the top instead.

The same sort of thing can be seen on the sessions tab. No matter what column you select to sort on, it is a static sort and ISA places new entries on the bottom regardless.

I'm guessing it was done this way for performance reasons as each new entry requires the entries below it move down but I'm sure the smart people at MS could figure out a way to let the list catch up during available CPU cycles. They just need to leave a *discontinuity* marker where the list bubble down was aborted in favor of current data above it. Anyway, if we don't like the lag effect, we could always go back to the default (newest on the bottom) order.

As a compromise for the live logging but not the sessions, the list could have an optional *auto paging* feature to page down whenever the list reaches the bottom so that it needn't scroll on every new line. We would of course want to be able to toggle it for when we want to manually scroll up and down without stopping the query.

Hi Les,

I agree. I figured if the arrows on the column header show high to low or low to high, the entries in the column should be arranged that way.
