Folks,

We are trying to log to an sql server 2005 instance on a separate server to the ISA 2006 install.

When I go into Monitoring | Logging and then i configure the firewall and Web Proxy and click the test button it works fine.

The account we are connecting to the SQL database has all the right permisions to connect.

However when I click apply and try restart the Microsoft Firewall Service - it fails with the error id of 212994.

The Microsoft Firewall Service is running under NT Authority\NetworkService.

Does anybody have any ideas.

One other thing is that it will log no problem to a flat file.

Thanks in advance

It sounds like you have not configured logging correctly, try using this guide: http://tmgblog.richardhicks.com/2009/05/29/remote-sql-logging-with-microsoft-isa-server-2006/

Cheers

JJ

Hi Guys,

Thansk for that, but the end result is still the same.

I have one question that pertains to the guide Jason recomended, when I am setting up the Firewall Logging and Web Proxy Logging on the ISA, it says to use windows authentication, do i leave the username and pasword field here blank as is shown in his guide

Cheers

Yep.

Authentication is done using the computer account...hence providing SQL permissions using the computer$ entries.

Cheers
