I have two nlb Isa 2006 enterprise servers and 2 css servers. I need to move to TMG. There obviously is no direct Jump, (os is not the same.)

I also have a standard license isa 2006 available to me.

Initiallly I was going to install a temp server and reinstall Enterprise 2006 to the same array. I shut down one server and then could not see the ipaddress on the remaining server or publish sites and had to reboot the last remaining and bring both servers backup to manage sites. So that didnt do what I wanted.

Not sure what the consequences would be for the published sites if I added one server to the array (not nlb) If I add a new server into the old array/css server, it should give me the old config. will it break anything? It means for a little bit of time, before I rebuild them there will be three servers in the array.

Alternatively (1) I could remove one server from the array rebuild it, but wouldnt that cause a problem with updating the last server /array while I do the build?

Alternatively to alternative 1 I can install standard 2006, but you cant import the config between standard and enterprise..so a lot of publishing would need to be done.

any thoughts about your experience or recommendation would help.

Never tried.

Read this one:
http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/How-migrate-Microsoft-ISA-Server-2006-Microsoft-Forefront-TMG.html

http://tmgblog.richardhicks.com/2010/03/20/migrating-from-isa-to-tmg/

Make sure to read the pre-requisites, and the best practices before doing anything, that is my only advice.
The XML file import won't work from TMG standard to enterprise without an array but it is fixed in TMG SP1:
