Hi all,

Does anyone have any definative data as to the most efficient format in terms of disk space for local logging in ISA 2004?

At the moment I am logging to W3C logfiles to a compressed NTFS folder. W3C is standards based and is pretty easy to analyse using MS LogParser and other free parsing tools.

I have never used MSDE and usually prefer a txt file format such as W3C or SysLog, but as our daily logfiles are pretty large I am prepared to consider using MSDE if there are significant space savings verses a compressed W3C file. Likewise I have been put off by others having MSDE Problems .

Many thanks in advance

Chris

Hi Chris,

Text logging with NTFS compression is least expensive in both processing and disk space.

HTH,
Tom
