Why i wonder if we can enable multicasting through ISA

We have a program that works with multicasting but issa server blocks it
11/5/2001, 13:26:34, 193.92.95.120, 225.6.10.10, Udp, 2403, 5010, -, BLOCKED, 193.92.110.100, 45 00 00 42 73 f0 00 00 f9 11 4b 8c c2 db 54 42 e1 06 0a 0a, 09 63 13 92 00 2e 99 f4 00 b8 36 01 82 7b fe 49 e0 a9 16 2a fc 03 7e 04 ee 03 96 00 12 00 fe 03 1c 02 ec 03 34 08 00 04 32 00 ea 03 32 00

How can we unblock it??
193.92.95.120 ---> server
225.6.10.10 --->Multicast Address
193.92.110.100 ---->Isa Server

Thanks

Hi Jinkostas,

Multicasting won't work behind the ISA Server, IIRC. Let us know if you find out differently.

Thanks!

Tom

i have a small program that sends the multicast packets to my internal network i was using it with ICS on Windows 2000.
so we can say that i can forward the multicast packets to my network
the point is the ISA server.If we can manage isa not to block those packets then i think it will be easy

I got inbound ip multicasting to work with isa server. You need to do the following:

1) Configure routing and remote access service for multicasting. You need to create IGMP interfaces. Set up the external interface as igmp proxy interface and the internal interface as an igmp querier interface.

2) Set up packet filters for allowing inbound igmp packets (ip protocol number 2) on external ip address 0.0.0.0 and outbound igmp packets on the external ip address of the isa server.

3) Set up packet filters for each multicast group you wish to receive. Multicast streams are udp packets with a destination address somewhere in the range 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255. You could also allow all inbound udp traffic but I would recommend this for testing only ;-).

Of course the upstream routers have to be enabled for multicast routing.

Which leads me to the following question: Does anyone know if it is possible to set up a packet filter for a range of external ip addresses (like 224.0.0.0 - 239.255.255.255)?
