I'm moving netmotion over from an old ISA 2000 box to a 2006 ISA. From what I understand, netmotion uses an UDP port of 5008. I setup a server rule to publish the UDP port. First I created a protocol for UDP for port 5008 set to receive/send. Next I create the rule using allow, the netmotion protocol and the listener is the external ip address on the card. On the to portion, I set the netmotion server which happens to be installed on the same server. So I set it to the internal IP adapter.

I test the client out and it will not connect. Only if I set it to show requests originating from the ISA server will it connect however it periodically will time out for a few seconds.

Example of some of my logs. This one is with the ruleset to appear from the ISA server.

Destin IP - 172.22.x.x
Destin Port - 5008
Protocol - Netmotion
Action - Initiated
Rule - Net
Client IP - IP of the client connecting
Source - External
Destination - Internal

Now I see these also with the one set above and I see these exclusively if I set it to show requests appearing from the original client.

Destin IP - 172.22.x.x
Destin Port - 5008
Protocol - Unidentified IP Traffic (UDP:5008)
Action - Denied Connection
Rule -
Client IP - IP of the client connecting
Source - External
Destination - Local Host

I've tried creating an access rule for all users for that UDP port from external to internal/local host/and the ip of the internal NIC.

I've tried creating a publishing rule to local host.

I'm not sure what else to try. It does connect in one method mentioned above but every minute it times out for a second. I've contacted Netmotion and all they can say is UDP 5008. They don't seem to comprehend anything with firewalls.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
